Entry requirements & Experience

  • A UK-recognised Honours Degree, (preferably 2:1 or above).
  • GCSE grade C or above in English, Mathematics and Science at grade C or above (Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Combined Science) or equivalent.
  • At the time of submission you should ideally have a minimum of at least 5 days experience in a UK school during the last academic year, although more experience is likely to be useful.

Personal specification

We are looking for candidates who:

  • have a passion for learning;
  • are able to make a positive contribution to the lives of young people and the community;
  • have an excellent ability to communicate with children and adults;
  • have excellent ICT skills;
  • are able to manage and organise themselves and be flexible.

Interview & recruitment

  • Interviews will take place within partnership schools of the Leicester & Leicestershire SCITT.
  • You will be asked to draw upon your experiences in school and working with children at interview.  
  • You will also be required to pass the numeracy and literacy professional skills tests, ideally before the interview or failing this, within two months of an offer being made.  For further details visit the following web link
